Masar Legal Company (“Masar Legal”, “we”, “us”) is a law firm registered in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through this website, masarlegal.com.

We process personal data in accordance with Law No. 30 of 2018 promulgating the Personal Data Protection Law of the Kingdom of Bahrain (the “PDPL”) and its implementing regulations.

This policy covers visitors to our website. Information you give us in the course of a legal engagement is additionally protected by the duty of professional confidentiality owed by advocates under Bahraini law, which is wider than this policy and is not limited by it.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

• Enquiry forms — your name, email address, telephone number, company, subject and message.
• Appointment booking — your name, email address, preferred attorney and language, and the details of your request.
• Newsletter — your email address.
• Careers — your first and last name, email address, telephone number, the position applied for, your years of experience, your CV, and any message you choose to add.

Information collected automatically

• Server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and the date and time of each request.
• Cookies and analytics — described in section 6.

Please do not send confidential case details or documents through the website forms. Use them to make contact, and we will tell you how to send sensitive material securely.

3. Why we use it

• To answer your enquiry or arrange an appointment — on the basis of your consent and of steps taken at your request before entering into an engagement.
• To assess a job application — on the basis of your consent.
• To send our newsletter — on the basis of your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
• To keep the website secure and working — on the basis of our legitimate interest in protecting it against abuse.
• To meet legal, regulatory and court obligations — where the law requires it of us.

We do not use information collected through this website to make automated decisions about you.

4. Job applications and CVs

A CV submitted through our Careers page is used only to assess your suitability for a position at Masar Legal. It is seen by the partners and by the staff involved in recruitment, and it is not shared outside the firm.

We keep applications for twelve months from the date of submission, so that we can consider you for positions that arise later. You may ask us to delete your application at any time before then by writing to info@masarlegal.com, and we will do so.

5. How long we keep information

• Enquiries and appointment records — twenty-four months from our last contact with you. If an engagement begins, the file is kept under our client-file retention policy and the applicable professional rules instead.
• Job applications — twelve months from submission.
• Newsletter subscriptions — until you unsubscribe.
• Server logs — thirty days.

6. Cookies and analytics

This website sets cookies that are necessary for it to function, and uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Analytics cookies record pages viewed, approximate location and device type; they do not tell us who you are.

We also use Google reCAPTCHA on our forms, to distinguish human visitors from automated submissions. Its use is subject to Google’s own privacy policy and terms.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of this website from working.

7. Who we share it with

• Our hosting provider, which stores the website and its databases.
• Microsoft, which provides the email service through which enquiries reach us.
• Google, for website analytics and form spam protection.
• Courts, regulators and public authorities, where we are required by law to disclose.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

8. Transfers outside Bahrain

Some of the providers named above process data on servers located outside the Kingdom of Bahrain. Where the PDPL requires it, such transfers are made on a basis it permits, including your consent and the safeguards provided by the relevant provider’s contractual terms.

9. Security

This website is served over an encrypted connection, access to submitted information is restricted to those in the firm who need it, and our systems are kept up to date. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information you send us before it reaches us.

10. Your rights

Under the PDPL you have the right to be told what personal data we hold about you and why, to obtain a copy of it, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask that your data be erased or that its processing be blocked, to object to processing including direct marketing, and to withdraw a consent you have given.

Write to info@masarlegal.com to exercise any of these rights. We will respond within the period prescribed by the PDPL. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Personal Data Protection Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

11. Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of eighteen.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
